Judit_200pixJudit Boenisch was born in Budapest and holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering. She started her career as a manager in international companies like Philip Morris and Kraft Foods in Europe and Asia. She soon found her access to contemporary art as a collector. Her growing personal contacts to artists and gallerists led to a series of exhibitions she first organised in collaboration with the Paris gallery Michel Rein. In 2002 she opened the gallery Traversée in Munich. Based on the exhibition program and the accompanying events Traversée soon became one of the recognised spaces for contemporary art. She represented artists Allan Sekula, Yuri Leiderman, Cyrill Lachauer and Nika Radic, among others. She also collaborated closely with curators of different generations, as Katalin Timar, Anna Schneider. She published the book essence in 2012, reflecting the gallery history with contribution from artists, curators and collectors. In 2014 Judit took another turn in her support for the arts and now works as an independent art consultant testing new possibilities for presentation and mediation of what is happening in the art scene today.
